2023-2024 Clipper Race Execution

The "end of the beginning" was on Saturday, May 20th, 2023 when Crew Allocation was conducted in Portsmouth, UK, and I joined the Qingdoa (pronounced "chingdow") race team, skippered by South African Greg Hunt and First Mate, Steve Westwood!  I'll be joining 9 other "RTWers" ("round the worlders"), ~60 additional "leggers" will join various legs, and 2 sailing ambassadors from China!

Qingdao is a beautiful city in China, and is the longest continuous sponsor of the Clipper Race.  In the 2019-2020 addition of the race, Qingdao finished first overall, so we have quite the legacy to uphold to possibly comeback and 'repeat'!

Follow my blog here as I explore the race over 8 different legs across 11 months of racing around the world, or click on the link below to learn more about Team Qingdao!

Countdown to Race Start September 2, 2023!

My Clipper Race

1

My Race Beginning

My race began in the spring of 2019, when I was originally going to do the 2021-2022 version of the Clipper Race...well before we had any inkling that we would be beset by a global pandemic!

My Race Philanthropy

Philanthropy is an important tenet of the Clipper Race.  From our sustainability pledge to the  community service events the crews do in port, we focus on building a better world.  I am dedicated to raising $40,000 ($1 for each kilometer around the world) for Unicef and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
